Bruce Lee on Adapting

“To change with change is the changeless state.”

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. Now you
put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a
bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes
the teapot. Now water can flow, or it can crash! Be water, my friend.”

“Be like water making its way through the cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.”

One of my all time favorites Bruce Lee.

Your EQ or emotional quotient as defined by Daniel Goleman.

  1. Knowing your emotions.
  2. Managing your own emotions.
  3. Motivating yourself.
  4. Recognising and understanding other people’s emotions.
  5. Managing relationships, ie., managing the emotions of others.

Emotional Intelligence embraces and draws from numerous other branches of behavioural, emotional and communications theories, such as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Transactional Analysis, and empathy. Goleman further adds, by developing our Emotional Intelligence in these areas and the five EQ domains we can become more productive and successful at what we do, and help others to be more productive and successful too.

In this world in order to survive and cope with challenges we must readily adapt or succumb to the tides of change. Adaption is both an objective thought process and an attitude to adjust to what is naturally happening.
